Trip has been involved with Universal Bookbindery since 1987 in a full time capacity. Prior to this as a young adult, he worked during holidays and summers. Trip went on to become vice president of the company in 1992 and was named president in 1996. He has experience both in the production plant and in various departments in the office. He is also active in the local manufacturer’s association and serves on the boards of several San Antonio organizations. Trip is married with two daughters and enjoys hunting, golfing, fishing and motorcycle riding.
Fred Daubert joined the Universal team in 2014 as vice president. Fred has an extensive background in bindery and commercial print. His prior experience includes 19 years with a trade bindery in Rochester, NY. He has also worked for several commercial printing companies in the Northeast in various production and sales roles. Fred is married and has two children. He enjoys hunting, fishing and the great outdoors.
Joe Alvarez joined Universal Bookbindery in 2012 as an assistant production manager and became Production Manager in 2014. Joe was bindery manager for a large commercial printer in the San Antonio area and prior to coming to UBB, he was an area distribution manager for a targeted distribution company. Joe is in control of the entire production process from start to finish and oversees our team of craftsman to get your job produced properly and on time. In his spare time Joe enjoys grilling, being outdoors and watching the Dallas Cowboys and San Antonio Spurs!
Ian has more than 35 years in procurement and manufacturing management. Greenbelt certified in 6 sigma lean manufacturing, he is fluid in all aspects of purchasing, commodity management, sourcing, and materials management for both small and multi-national companies. He has worked in bindery and commercial printing since 2012 and joined Universal Bookbindery in October 2022.
As our purchasing agent, he makes sure the materials and supplies we need are available and on hand when they are needed.
Ian is married with two sons and triplet daughters. He enjoys traveling, golf, scuba diving, and has recently added hunting and karaoke to his hobbies.
Cordell joined the Universal Bookbindery family in 2010 with 25 years’ experience in the area of accounting and finance. As Controller, he manages all aspects of the day-to-day accounting, payroll and cash flow management. He also is the company Human Resource Administrator, handling all aspects of employee benefits. Cordell is married and has two children. Outside of work, Cordell enjoys spending time with family and friends; in his spare time, he enjoys swimming in his backyard swimming pool, gardening, and traveling with his RV.
Ann joined the Universal Bookbindery team in August of 2007 as a customer service representative. During the 25 years prior to that, Ann worked in the graphic arts industry in both Austin and San Antonio. She enjoys personally serving customers and handling the details of each project.
Ann has two children. In her free time, she is busy with her children’s activities and participating in her community. She enjoys adventure, family, friends and travel.
Rosie joined the UBB team after spending over 25 years as a commercial print coordinator and buyer. She started working at a local non-profit right after college graduation and worked on direct mail campaigns. She was introduced to commercial printing in 1993. Rosie came to know UBB as a customer in the early 90’s and learned a lot about bookbindery over the next 30 years. She accepted the position of Customer Service Representative in 2022, trained by and eventually replacing Marcella Davies, who retired after 30+ years. She brings a wealth of printing knowledge to help our customers when planning their next job to come to us for finishing.
Rosie is married with two daughters and enjoys family gatherings, road trips and reading.
LaStella first started working at Universal Bookbindery on the plant floor where she worked in many of the different departments. Because of this, she has real hands-on knowledge of what works and what does not. After taking a short break to have her first child, she returned to work in March 2024 in the office where she supports the customer service team and is a backup for them when they are out.
LaStella is married and has one son along with 3 stepchildren. Because she played basketball in college, she enjoys shooting hoops in her spare time along with cooking and chasing her young son around the playground!
Fernando started working at Universal Bookbindery in June 2012. Prior to this, he was an estimator at a direct mail printing company.
Fernando is responsible for creating all of our quotes, and since we are a custom manufacturer, his quotes can vary widely. He brings a wealth of knowledge to help ensure your quote is as efficiently produced as possible.
Fernando has two grown children and in his spare time enjoys spending time on his ranch west of San Antonio, hunting, fishing and playing golf.
Danny is in charge of our shipping and receiving department and does a great job of documenting what we receive in as well as what ships out the door.
Our normal receiving and shipping hours are 7 am to 3:30 pm, Monday thru Friday.
If your job just requires a routine LTL shipment, or needs special shipping and handling details, he makes sure we find the right carrier to get the job done correctly and on time.
Danny is married with two sons plus three stepchildren, and he is blessed to have 3 grandchildren. In his spare time, he enjoys taking road trips on his Harley Davidson motorcycle in the Texas Hill Country and to places even further away.
