Decoration Options for Your Books and Bindery Needs

At Universal Bookbindery, we believe that the right decorative touches can transform a standard book into a stunning work of art. Our comprehensive range of decoration options allows you to customize your books and products to reflect your brand’s identity or to create unique gifts that leave a lasting impression. Explore our array of decorative techniques that add flair, elegance, and depth to your projects.

Foil Stamping

Hot foil stamping is available with a wide range of foil colors.  We can also emboss or deboss to register to the stamped image.

Silkscreen Printing

Enhance your covers with vibrant silkscreen designs using vinyl-based inks that dry naturally. With the ability to print in multiple colors, our process is perfect for accenting designs or complementing existing decorations like foil stamping. Consult with our customer service representatives for guidance on your design’s requirements.

Blind Embossing-Debossing

Create a stunning visual effect with our blind embossing technique, where your design is raised without color. Using specialized Sheridan embossing presses, we can effectively emboss both material and board to create captivating textures on hardcovers and paper stock.

Film Lamination

For an eye-catching design, our metal applique technique applies thick, adhesive-backed foil to your book cover using a sculpted brass embossing die. This historic technique, ideal for multi-level designs, often uses silver or gold foil, but other colors are available. We can even apply antiquing effects to accentuate the details.

Die Cutting

Our manual and automatic die cutting presses allow for intricate designs and functionality, creating slipcases, die-cut windows, and decorative edges. With a maximum size of up to 26 x 37 inches, your creative possibilities are expansive.

We have the ability to die cut through the front cover on a bound book to expose the image from the front flysheet.

Graining

Choose from 27 distinct designs to add depth and uniqueness to your cover.  Often this is done in combination with foil stamping and or embossing.

We have the ability t0 knock out the graining giving a very cool multi-dimensional look to the finished piece.

Metal Applique (Metallay Embossing)

For an eye-catching design, our metal applique technique applies thick, adhesive-backed foil to your book cover using a sculpted brass embossing die. This historic technique, ideal for multi-level designs, often uses silver or gold foil, but other colors are available. We can even apply antiquing effects to accentuate the details.

Padded Covers

Give your books a luxurious touch with padded covers. We offer options for padding on the front, back, or spine, perfect for enhancing both aesthetics and tactile quality in books, ring binders, and special packaging.

Elegant Ribbon Book Markers for Enhanced Functionality

Ribbon Bookmarkers

Enhance your book’s functionality with one or multiple high-quality ribbon bookmarks. Available in various colors and designs, our ribbon bookmarks feature laser-cut edges to prevent fraying, seamlessly integrating into your book project.

Gilded Edges

Elevate your bound book with gilded edges featuring either imitation or pure gold leaf. Choose to gild one, two, or all three edges to create a luxurious finish.

Round Corners

Opt for a softer, finished look with rounded corners on your hardcovers or text pages. Our standard radius is 3/8” (we also have 1/8″ and 1/4″ radius tooling) providing a contemporary appearance for any publication.

We can also round corner soft cover books.
