Our History

Benny

We’ve been doing this a long, long time.

Universal Bookbindery, Inc. has been operating in San Antonio, Texas continually since 1925 – although it can trace its roots back even further, to 1918, in Corpus Christi, Texas.

What began as a small, hand bindery in the back of a print shop has evolved into a major producer and manufacturer of books, ring binders, and graphic arts finishing. In the early 1950s, as automation became available, Universal Bookbindery, Inc. was already at the forefront of the industry, investing in the latest technology and machines, as a way of meeting the ever increasing needs of its wide spread customer base.  This mindset continues today as we utilize state of the art automated equipment allowing us to do a wider range of products with ever quicker delivery time frames.

UB-BennyToday, the company operates a modern, 50,000 square foot, climate controlled facility, plus an additional 10,000 square foot offsite storage warehouse.

Over the years, Universal Bookbindery, Inc. has been the recipient of many awards and accolades, but none are we more proud of than our benny (Benjamin Franklin Statue – Printing Industries of America, Inc. Premier Print Award).  This prestigious award recognizes a very difficult job done very well, and only goes out to companies who have the manpower, equipment and know how to produce a truly award winning product.
